TAMMS, Ill. -- Leonard Ferrin Bridges, 77, of Tamms died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at his home.
He was born Jan. 11, 1927, in Elco, Ill., son of Clarence Edward and Ruby Marie West Bridges. He and Wilma Dodd were married at Tamms.
Bridges was a retired truck driver and had worked for Roadway, Midwest Haulers, Sam Tanksley and Ohio Pacific. He was a member and trustee of Elco Baptist Church and member of Pulaski County VFW Post 8891 of Mounds, Ill.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Eddie Bridges of Fredericktown, Mo., Jackie Bridges of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Donald Bridges of Olive Branch, Ill., Jim Bridges of Tamms; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Friends may call at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, and Sunday from 8 a.m. until time of service.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Revs. P.L. Montgomery and Buddy Walls officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery near Dongola, Ill., with full military honors by members of VFW Post 8891.
