Hazel Leona Kurre, 93, of Jackson passed away Friday, April 10, 2015, at Chateau Girardeau Nursing Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 4, 1921, in Sedgewickville, Missouri, daughter of Burette and Cora Lively Limbaugh. She and E.P. "Pug" Kurre were married April 26, 1940.
Leona was a longtime member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson, where she was a member of Friendship Circle 70 years and a choir member 60 years. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 158 in Jackson. Her passions in life were her family and church.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 75 years, E.P. "Pug" Kurre; two daughters, Dina (Neil) Casey of Cape Girardeau and Gina (Terry) Rogers of St. Louis; and five grandchildren, Lee (Tyne), Mark (Tiffany) and Ann Strickert and Garrett and Reid Rogers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Joe, Rayford and Linzel Limbaugh; and three sisters, Venieda Reynolds and Dorinda and Juelene Limbaugh.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Mindy Kiepe and Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Emanuel UCC in Jackson.
