Leona Ann King, 97, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, June 9, 2013, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Aug. 9, 1915, in Altenburg, Mo., to Joseph and Anna Richter Roth. She and Charles A. "Cookie" King were married April 19, 1941, at Benton, Mo. He passed away Sept. 5, 1995.

Leona was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, lifetime member of VFW Post 3838 Auxiliary for 54 years, serving in many offices, including president for several years. She also was a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 Auxiliary and Saint Francis Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley (Bobby Joe) Busche of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Sherry (Richard) Randol of Cape Girardeau, Timothy (Patti) Busche of New Market, Md.; three great-grandchildren, Christina Preston, Theresa Randol and Daniel Busche; five great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband, four brothers, Willard, Raymond, Gilbert and Vernon Roth.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with VFW Post 3838 Auxiliary service at 7.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Nathan Burgell officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Lutheran Home and Lutheran Home Hospice.
