Graveside service for Leona May Jones of Cape Girardeau will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary's Cemetery, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 9-10:45 a.m.
Jones, 74, died Thursday, June 25, 1998, at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born July 17, 1923, at Graniteville, daughter of Chester Leon and Elizabeth Whitney Ham. She and William B. Jones were mar4ried Nov. 11, 1939. He died in July 1987.
During World War II she worked for the Department of the Navy. She was a certified nurse assistant at Centerville Township Hospital in Illinois 11 years, and also worked at Southeast Missouri Hospital 11 years.
She moved to Cape Girardeau more than 20 years ago from Cahokia, Ill. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.
Survivors include a son, Gerald Jones of Fenton; two daughters, Barbara Barker of Jonesboro, Ill., Robyn Rollo, address unknown; a brother, Norman Niswonger of Killian, Texas; a sister, Helen Winkler of Cairo, Ill.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
