Leon Smith, 84, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, at his home. He was born Feb. 13, 1931, in Sikeston, Missouri, to Luther and Rosie Ward Smith. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the United States Army. Leon is survived by one daughter, Janet Schrock (Ralph) of Chelsea, Alabama; one granddaughter, Samantha Schrock, also of Chelsea; three sisters, Louise Seyer of Cape Girardeau, Carolyn Patterson of Sikeston and Ronnie Shaw of Benton, Missouri; four brothers, Junior and Travis Smith, both of Sikeston, Harold Smith of Las Vegas and Truman Smith of Ironton, Missouri; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.. ...

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ernest Smith.

A graveside funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with military honors.
