Leon Albert Kipping, 75, of Mount Vernon, Ill., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at Hospice Nursing Home in Mount Vernon. He was born Dec. 23, 1922, in Cape Girardeau, son of Julius Heinrich and Anna Marie Miesner Kipping. Leon Albert Kipping, 75, of Mount Vernon, Ill., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at Hospice Nursing Home in Mount Vernon.

He was born Dec. 23, 1922, in Cape Girardeau, son of Julius Heinrich and Anna Marie Miesner Kipping.

He attended Trinity Lutheran School and Central High School in Cape Girardeau and the University of Oklahoma. He served in the Army in Germany during World II.

Kipping was a building contractor.

His wife, the former Viola Marie Hook, survives of Mount Vernon.

Other survivors are four sons, Kenneth Ray, Richard Lee, Kerry Dean and Robert Scott Kipping; and a sister, Ruth Young of Penn Valley, Calif.

A memorial service will be held at the Baptist church in Energy, Ill., Saturday.
