KELSO -- Leon Joseph Messmer, 80, Kelso Route 1, died Monday, Oct. 9, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 1, 1914, at Kelso, son of Edward and Clara Martin Messmer. He and Josephine M. Himmelsbach were married Aug. 23, 1941, at Chaffee.
Messmer retired as a mechanic at Lone Star Industries. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Walter Messmer of Benton, Michael Messmer of Garland, Texas; two daughters, Marilyn Welsh of Cape Girardeau, Diana Westrich of Kelso; four brothers, James and Alvin Messmer of Cape Girardeau, Cletus Messmer of Scott City, Clarence Messmer of Farmington; a sister, Edvira Rhodes of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City after 5 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7:30.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine Church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
