BENTON -- Leon Edward Compas, 64, of Benton Route 1, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 1991, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 29, 1926, at Kelso, son of Edward and Hermina Dumey Compas. He and Wilma R. McCallister were married June 5, 1949, at Wolf Island.
Compas was co-owner of Compas and Strack Inc. at Jackson. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Benton and its Men's Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kathy Baker and Debbie Compas of Benton Route 1; his mother, Hermina Compas of Cape Girardeau; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Compas of East Prairie; two brothers, Elmer Compas of Alton, Ill., William Compas of East Alton, Ill.; a sister, Laura Holt of Benton; two grandchildren, Amy Whitworth of Scott City, and Norman Baker of Benton.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Evans, in 1986.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton. The Rev. Dale Huff will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
