Leon Diebold

ORAN, Mo. -- Leon William Diebold, 93, of Oran died Monday, June 12, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 15, 1912, at New Hamburg, Mo., son of Charley and Theresa Lieble Diebold. He and Marcella S. Stubenrauch were married Dec. 29, 1932. She died Jan. 7, 1998.

Diebold owned Leon Diebold Insurance Agency 34 years in Oran. He was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church and St. Joseph Sodality.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Bennett of Lake Worth, Fla., Ella Callow of Scott City; a friend, Judy Pobst of Oran; 21 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, five brothers, a sister, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 4 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 6:30.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Guardian Angel Church, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
