JONESBORO, Ill. -- Leo A. Smith, 69, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at John Cochran VA Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born March 19, 1930, in Alto Pass, son of Walter and Annie Coryell Smith. He and Betty Jean Turner were married June 18, 1958, in Jonesboro. She died Oct. 10, 1996.
Smith was a retired welder. He was a veteran of World War II.Survivors include two sons, Leroy Lindsey of Shiloh, Larry Lindsey of Jonesboro; three daughters, Shirley Kernan of Belleville, Sue Kitchel of Venice, Fla., Wanda Smith of Jonesboro; two brothers, Willey and Grover Smith of Murphysboro; 21 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and a grandchild.
Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home in Jonesboro from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Jack Kurrelmeyer officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery with graveside rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna.
