ADVANCE -- James "Leo" Deckard, 74, of River View Gardens died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at St. Luke West Hospital in Chesterfield.
He was born April 5, 1925, in Zalma, son of Lester Leo and Alma Lemons Deckard. He and Veda West were married Nov. 17, 1944.
Deckard worked 37 years with East Texas and ABF Motor Freight companies. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Deckard of Ankeny, Iowa; a sister, Veda Harris of Advance; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by an infant son.
Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Bill Sargent will officiate. Burial will be in Berrong Cemetery, with graveside rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
