Leo Edward Combs, 95, of Jackson died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at Monticello House.
He was born May 5, 1908, in Fredericktown, Mo., son of John H. and Eva Miller Combs. He and Mable N. Noblin were married Nov. 17, 1930, in St. Louis. She died April 4, 1984.
Combs worked 23 years at the former American Packing Co. in St. Louis. The family returned to Fredericktown in 1946, but he continued working in St. Louis. He worked in residential construction and later worked for Weber Construction, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of Parkin Memorial United Methodist Church in Fredericktown, and after moving to Jackson in 1988 became a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church. He was a member of Local 1795 Carpenter's District Council of Greater St. Louis, and Odd Fellows Lodge in Fredericktown.
Survivors include a son, the Rev. Richard Combs of Jackson; a daughter, Janet Yount of Barnhart, Mo.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson after 10 a.m. Thursday.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Donald Kuehle and Jimmie Corbin officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Fredericktown.
