Leo Edward Bethards, 82, of Cape Girardeau died on Saturday, June 18, 2005, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Vandalia, Ill., son of Ohmer and Mary Ethel Hibbetts Bethards. He and Mary Agnes Smith were married Sept. 26, 1942, in Old Monroe, Mo.
He was retired from Shell Oil Co. He was a veteran of World War II and served in transport services in the U.S. Navy. He was a longtime volunteer at the Lutheran Home and a member of the Lions Club for many years. He was a Boy Scoutmaster.
Survivors include his wife and a brother, Leonard S. Bethards of Miami, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral will be at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Woodland Hills Cemetery in Wood River, Ill.
