Leo Baudino
CAIRO, Ill. -- Leo S. Baudino, 73, of Cairo died Friday, March 28, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 18, 1934, in Cairo, son of Leo and Helen Beland Baudino.
He was a teacher at the University of Arkansas and later at Shawnee Community College at Ullin. Baudino was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Cairo Elks Lodge 651. Baudino received his undergraduate and master's degrees in English from the University of Illinois and his ABD on his doctorate in education from the University of Arkansas. He was a former English instructor at Springdale, Ariz., High School and Lake View High School in Decatur, Ill., and served as the coordinator of the Illinois Gifted Program.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria J. Baudino, of Fayetteville, Ariz.; two daughters, Winona Shellabarger of Blissfield, Mich., Leslie Conrad of Salem, Ill.; a son, Frank Baudino of Maryville, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
There is no visitation.
The rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo, followed by the 10 a.m. funeral Mass, celebrated by his nephew, the Rev. Father Tom Stout, at Calvary Cemetery in Villa Ridge, Ill.
