BLOOMFIELD -- Lenard Frank Hovis, 74, of Bloomfield died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 12, 1925, in Townley, the son of Alfred Benton and Lola Mae Francis Hovis. He married Wilma Jean Jones on May 3, 1946. She survives.
He had spent most of his life in the Bloomfield community. He was a retired custodian for the Dexter public school system and attended St. Joe General Baptist Church at Idalia.
He also is survived by a son, Donnie Hovis of Bloomfield; two brothers, Clifford Hovis of Festus and Byron Francis Hovis of Redding, Calif.; a sister, Jewell Christine Ramsey of Hillsboro; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dan Sitz officiating.
Burial will be at the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
