Lena Uptain

ORAN, Mo. -- Lena Amy Uptain, 85, of East Moline, Ill., died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at Rosewood Care Center of Moline Inc.

She was born March 12, 1921, in Lamar, Ark., daughter of Alvin Eric and Ann Lee Goforth Wilkins. She and Newell Uptain were married Nov. 13, 1938. He died May 24, 1993.

Uptain moved from Oran to East Moline in 1996. She was a school cook three years. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Coal Valley, Ill.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Friends may call from noon to service time Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ed Carter officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley, Mo.
