Memorial service for Lelia Thomasson of Columbia will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Columbia.

Thomasson, 98, died Thursday, July 24, 1996, at Lenoir Retirement Community in Columbia.

She was born Aug. 9, 1897, in Fredericktown, daughter of Felix J. and Minnie Parkin. She and Robert Raphael Thomasson were married in 1920. He died in 1967.

Thomasson attended Stephens College in Columbia and was librarian there. She also served on the Columbia Public Library Board.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, founding member of its Snead Class, and served in various capacities of the church. She was a member of the University of Missouri Agricultural Extension Service Club, Stephens College Alumni Organization, member and president of PEO and King's Daughters, and member of the Poetry Club of Lenoir Manor.

Survivors include three sons, Gerald Thomasson of Roseburg, Ore., Donald Thomasson of Cape Girardeau, Ray Thomasson of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Reva Burns of Uvalde, Texas; 10 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother.
