MOUNDS, Ill. -- Lelia Ruth Palmer, 76, of Mounds died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo, Ill.

She was born March 23, 1925, in Mounds, daughter of Roy and Ethel Helman Palmer.

Palmer was a member of the Congregational Church and Smiles One Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include four sisters, Daisy Calhoun of Austin, Texas, Mermie Reeves of Pulaski, Ill., Marjorie Rives of Mounds, Evva Tuffley of Bullhead, Ariz.; and a brother, Dr. James "Jim" Palmer of Charleston, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Friends may call at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Ill., from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Nell Bierman officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery.
