NEW MADRID, Mo. -- Lela Powell Hunter Hart, 86, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 14, 1916, at Hough, Mo., daughter of Robert W. and Susie M. Woodward Hunter. She and Harry Thomas Hart were married Nov. 25, 1935. He died in 1963.
Mrs. Hart was a direct descendant of the Hunter-Dawson Home family and grew up in East Prairie, Mo.
She was librarian at New Madrid County Library 20 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Friends of the New Madrid Museum.
Survivors include a son, Harry Thomas Hart Jr. of Manchester, Mo.; two daughters, Anne H. Dial and M. Kay Sides of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Susie Aycock of East Prairie, Ruth Wilson of Sikeston, Mo.; a brother, Robert Hunter of East Prairie; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Friends may call at Richards Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jon Thompson, former pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
