PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Lela Rose Buerck, 98, of Perryville passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 5, 1922, in Perry County, Missouri, to Thomas A. and Ida Krieger Buchheit. She and William A. Buerck were married Oct. 1, 1949, at Church of the Assumption in Perryville. He preceded her in death March 20, 2002...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Lela Rose Buerck, 98, of Perryville passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 5, 1922, in Perry County, Missouri, to Thomas A. and Ida Krieger Buchheit.

She and William A. Buerck were married Oct. 1, 1949, at Church of the Assumption in Perryville. He preceded her in death March 20, 2002.

She retired from International Shoe Co. in 1987.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Lela was always happy in her home where she enjoyed taking care of her yard and planting her many beautiful flowers. She loved her family very much and truly enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they were the joy of her life.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy (Ken) Gibbar and Ginny (Jim) Moll, both of Perryville; son, Gerry (Mona) Gebauer of Alton, Illinois; seven sisters and brothers, Zita Brancio of Arvada, Colorado; Ronnie (Barb) Buchheit of High Ridge, Missouri; Tommy (Carol) Buchheit of Benton, Kentucky; Betty Nahlik of Arnold, Missouri; Paul (Judy) Buchheit of Camdenton, Missouri; Patty (Linnie) Vogel of Arnold; and Chauncey (Joyce) Buchheit of St. Louis; a sister-in-law, Julie Buchheit; eight grandchildren, Abby Gibbar, Zachary (Lisa) Gibbar, Brittany (Jeff) Wehner, Haley (Brent) Kell, Chelsea (Ryan) Wegener, Dylan (Cristen) Moll, Eve Williamson and Lauren (Ryan) Mitchell; and 10 great-grandchildren, Ella and Will Gibbar, Eli and Beckett Wehner, Alexa, Brendyn and Caden Wegener, Norah Moll, James Williamson and Trevor Mitchell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers, Roy, Elmer, Gib, Percy and Dennis Buchheit; and a sister, Eunice Schott.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Rich Wehrmeyer, C.M., officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Masses or St. Vincent School System.

Ford and Young Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
