CHAFFEE, Mo. -- On May 27, 2007, at 12:59 p.m., the Lord called home one of his angels, Leeada Marie (Mier) Sheeley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed.
She was born Oct. 4, 1931, at Caney, Mo., daughter of Benjamin Joseph and Ludwina Katherine Westrich Mier. They moved to Chaffee in 1945. She and Donald Sheeley were married May 15, 1956.
She owned Leeada's Department Store in Chaffee from 1961 to 1972. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, the Daughters of St. Ambrose, the Ladies Auxiliary of Chaffee VFW Post 3127 and the Chaffee Historical Society.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Perry (Rhonda) Sheeley of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Cindy (Rick) Gadberry and Sara (Charles) Hemingway, both of Chaffee; a brother, Leroy J. Mier of Oran, Mo.; three grandchildren, Megan Sheeley, Ian Hemingway and Michelle (Mark) Perkins; and two great-grandchildren, Zach Perkins and Jake Perkins.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sammie Gadberry, a brother and three sisters.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee. The Rev. Ralph Duffner will officiate, with burial in St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glen Hinkebein, Tom Hinkebein, Robert Hinkebein, Mike Hinkebein, Dan Hinkebein and Chris Mier.
