PIEDMONT -- Funeral for Lee Tooke of Piedmont was held Friday at Morrison-Worley Funeral Home in Piedmont. The Revs. Allen Calkins and Dan Ross officiated. Private burial was in Duncan Cemetery in Reynolds County.
Tooke, 85, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at Clark's Mountain Nursing Center.
He was born Dec. 18, 1913, in Reynolds County. He and Clara Cole were married June 18, 1938, in Wayne County.
Tooke had lived in Piedmont since 1955. He was a logger and farmer, and operated a heating repair service many years. He served as city collector 10 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a veteran of World War II. Tooke was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Stella Tooke and Carol Davis of Piedmont, Dixie Rawlins of Kirksville; a son, Glen Tooke of Piedmont; a brother, Howard Tooke of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Lucille McCamy of Columbia, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
