SIKESTON, Mo. -- Lee Andrew "Lamus" Hamilton, 70, of Sikeston died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born May 16, 1938, in Kewanee, Mo., son of David and Morean Hamilton. Hamilton attended Hooe Public School. He retired from General Motors Corp. in St. Louis in 1972. SIKESTON, Mo. — Lee Andrew "Lamus" Hamilton, 70, of Sikeston died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born May 16, 1938, in Kewanee, Mo., son of David and Morean Hamilton.

Hamilton attended Hooe Public School. He retired from General Motors Corp. in St. Louis in 1972. He was a member of Masonic Harmony Lodge 40, and New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Haywood City, Mo.

Survivors include eight daughters, Brenda Tippett of Atlanta, Angela White and Bernadette Mansfield of Sikeston, Donna Adams of Columbia, Mo., Lillian Hamilton of Matteson, Ill., Karen Lawrence of Chicago, Sheri Ware of St. Louis, Christine Hamilton of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Scott Hamilton of Chicago, Lowell Hamilton of Atlanta.

Also five sisters, Earlean Thomas of Cape Girardeau, Mary Curry of St. Louis, Patricia Cagle of Caruthersville, Mo., Phyllis Rowe and Beverly Morris of Sikeston; three brothers, Don Weakley of Cape Girardeau, Robert Hamilton of De Soto, Mo., Michael Hamilton of Haywood City; 42 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to service time Saturday at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Sikeston.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in New Morning Star Cemetery in Haywood City.

Ponder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
