Lawrence W. Stearns, 87, of Jackson passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Jackson Manor. He was born Aug. 25, 1917, in Millersville, son of Jefferson and Marzella Statler Stearns. He and Laura Seabaugh were married Aug. 24, 1933. She passed away June 29, 2000...

Lawrence W. Stearns, 87, of Jackson passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Jackson Manor.

He was born Aug. 25, 1917, in Millersville, son of Jefferson and Marzella Statler Stearns. He and Laura Seabaugh were married Aug. 24, 1933. She passed away June 29, 2000.

Lawrence attended school at Millersville. He and Laura resided and farmed near Millersville many years. Lawrence was a charter lifetime member of Millersville United Methodist Church. In 1970 they moved to Jackson and Lawrence worked at Jackson City Water Department. He retired in 1982.

Loving survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Lane and Carolyn Stearns of Millersville, Larry and Pat Stearns of Jackson; three grandchildren, Bill Stearns and wife LaShell of Walnut Shade, Mo., Kenny Stearns and wife Mary of Millersville, and Sarah Fadler of Millersville.

Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Phillip Stearns of Walnut Shade, Dustin and Casey Stearns and Evan Fadler, all of Millersville; and two sisters-in-law, Lou Maevers of Cape Girardeau and Marjorie Stearns of Perryville, Mo.

The last of six children, in addition to his wife, Lawrence was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Craig Petzoldt officiating. The grandchildren, their spouses, and great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. A private graveside service will follow at Snider Cemetery in Millersville.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Millersville United Methodist Church or Snider Cemetery.
