COMMERCE -- Funeral for Lawrence Pobst Jr. of Commerce will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Rev. Larry Lawman will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery at Charleston.

Friends may call at the chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.

Pobst, 81, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born July 28, 1918, at Lusk Chapel, son of Lawrence and Effie Knight Pobst Sr. He and Dorothy Evelyn Thomason were married July 2, 1949, at Charleston.

Pobst was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert Pobst of Osage Beach, Jim Pobst of Ellington; a daughter, Linda Pobst of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Marshall Pobst of Scott City; four sisters, his twin, Florence Edmonds; Tillie Mae Pobst, Mary Frances Pickens and Pauline Kraft, all of Cape Girardeau; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
