Lawrence Fuhrmann, 81, of Cape Girardeau, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1993, at Cape LaCroix Manor.
He was born Oct. 21, 1911, at Gordonville, son of John Albert and Anna L. Neumeyer Fuhrmann. He and Bessie Allen were married Sept. 13, 1937, in Cape Girardeau. She died May 2, 1988.
Fuhrmann was manager of Northland Hills Orchard on Perryville Road for 32 years. He was associated with the University of Missouri and Illinois University horticulture schools, and served on Missouri Farm Burean board many years.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and had been a consultant at Sunny Hill Garden Center. He also had worked with 4-H and extension councils.
Fuhrmann was a member of Cape Rock Chapter 60 OES, Wilson Chapter 25 RAM, Cape Council 20, St. Mark Masonic Lodge 93 AF&AM, and Cape Commandry 55 Knights Templar.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Crites of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Hattie Fuhrmann and Esther Hughes of Big Spring, Texas, and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and a sister.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Ernest Swartz will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
