CHAFFEE - Lawrence Edward Scheffer, 73, of Chaffee, died Saturday May 8, 1993 at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born Feb. 19, 1920 in Charleston, the son of Clem and Emma Gibbear Scheffer.
On Sept. 28, 1940 he married Adella Heisserer, who survives. He was a retired milk truck driver for Pevely Dairy.
Survivors include: eight sons, Fred Scheffer of Hermann, Martin Scheffer of Scott City, Mikael and Joe Scheffer of Cabot, Ark., and Marion, Paul, Patrick, and Leonard Scheffer of Chaffee; three daughters, Beatrice Mashek of Scott City, Carolyn Crites of Shawneetown, and Theresa Simpher of New Hamburg; four brothers, Clem and Berisimo Scheffer of Sikeston, Joe Scheffer of Ellis Grove, Ill., and John Scheffer of Charleston; four sisters, Christine Senciboy of Perkins, Margaret Proctor of Benton, and Pauline Scheffer and Frances Slayden of Charleston; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother, two sisters and one grandchild.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Chaffee; parish prayer will be at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, with Rev. Allan Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in Texas Bend Cemetery in Charleston.
