TAMMS, Ill. -- Lawrence E. Duff, 69, of Tamms, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 5, 1921, at Thebes, Ill., son of Richard Ernest and Ruth Dickerson Duff. He married Grace Miller on Jan. 16, 1945. She survives.
He was a member of the Olive Branch United Methodist Church, an Army veteran of World War II and was retired regional director of the Illinois Public Aid Department. He was a member of the Caledonia Lodge No. 47.
Other survivors are a daughter, Julia Duff Cowsert of Cape Girardeau; his mother, Ruth Duff of Olive Branch; three sisters, Delphia Schawwecker and Geneva Watson, both of Olive Branch and Ruth Eleanor Duff, Columbia, S.C.; one brother, Herman Duff, San Diego, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, one sister and one brother.
Friends may call today from 4-8 p.m. at the Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.
Service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jesse Bellamy and the Rev. Charles Horton officiating. Burial will be at St. Johns Cemetery near Dongola with military graveside rites conducted by Carroll P. Foster, Post No. 3455 of Anna, Ill.
