COBDEN, Ill. -- Lawrence A. "Spike" DuBois of Cobden died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born Feb. 27, 1924, at Cobden, the son of Howard and Florence Ihle DuBois. He married Judith M. Lamer on Jan. 25, 1958, at Cobden. She survives...

COBDEN, Ill. -- Lawrence A. "Spike" DuBois of Cobden died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

He was born Feb. 27, 1924, at Cobden, the son of Howard and Florence Ihle DuBois.

He married Judith M. Lamer on Jan. 25, 1958, at Cobden. She survives.

He was a member and trustee of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cobden and a past member of the Parish Council. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois, a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a retired rural mail carrier.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Rangers and Airborne during WWII, receiving four Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Cobden American Legion Post 259 and the Carroll P. Foster Post 3455 of the VFW in Anna.

He also is survived by a daughter, Renee Coleman of Cobden; two sons, Robert DuBois of Dongola and William DuBois of Buras, La.; a brother, Paul "Doc" DuBois of Cobden; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden. Rosary services will be held at 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cobden with the Rev. Federico Higuera and Deacon Pat Patterson officiating.

Burial will be at the Cobden Cemetery with military honors at the grave by Cobden American Legion Post 259 and Carroll P. Foster Post 3455 of the VFW in Anna.
