SIKESTON -- Lawrence Cole Cleek, 83, of Sikeston died Thursday, April 25, 1996, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 4, 1913, in Bonne Terre to the late Alexander Cole and Stella Carr Cleek. He married Thedamay Kitchen in Farmington in 1940.
Cleek was retired from the Sikeston A&P Supermarket and was also a district Amway distributor.
He had lived in Sikeston for 40 years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sikeston and the Sikeston Masonic Lodge. He was inducted into the Southeast Missouri Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991.
He is survived by his wife; two brothers, Vernon Cleek of Bonne Terre and Darwain Cleek of Sherwood, Ark.; and a niece.
He was preceded in death by a nephew whom he raised, Tony Wayne Clodfelder; five brothers; and a sister.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Amick-Burnett, with the Rev. Charles Buck officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
