ADVANCE -- Lawrence Gilbert Cagle, 84, of Advance died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
He was born May 5, 1915, in Advance, son of Fred and Flora Bright Cagle. He and Oma Stacy were married Dec. 25, 1966.
Lawrence was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He served his country from Feb. 5, 1942 through Dec. 19, 1945, in the European Theater. He served as an airplane electrical mechanic after attending the National School of Aeronautics in Kansas City for engine overhaul.
A lifelong resident of Stoddard County, he farmed until 1999.
Cagle was a member of Oak Ridge General Baptist Church, and American Legion Post 382 at Bloomfield.
Survivors include his wife; a sister, Evella Cagle of Bloomfield; eight nieces; four nephews; several cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Saturday.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lonnie Clubb officiating. Burial will be in George Cemetery near Swinton.
