LaVerne Restoff, 67, of Scheller, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, at the home of a son and daughter-in-law in Tamaroa, Illinois, surrounded by her family.

She was born June 20, 1947, in Du Bois, Illinois, daughter of John and Josephine Rybacki Dalman. She and Eugene Restoff were married Nov. 23, 1967, in Du Bois.

LaVerne worked for the United States Postal Service 21 years. She was postmaster at Scheller the past seven years. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois.

As much as she loved her children, the light of her life was her grandchildren. Together they spent many hours fishing in the pond behind the house, baking cookies or just curled up together on the couch watching movies.

She loved and appreciated farming and the country life and instilled those values in her family as well. She cherished her "sister days" that were spent with Chris, JoAnn and Sharon. Her genuine caring spirit will be greatly missed and she will be remembered as a strong, loving, devoted wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend.

Survivors include her husband of Scheller; six children, Francie (David) Landewee of Scott City, Jim Restoff of Okawville, Illinois, Bob (Diedra) Restoff and Dan Restoff of Tamaroa, Steve Restoff of Pinckneyville, Illinois, and Jeannie (Todd) Landewee of Chaffee, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ralph and Mike Dalman; and a brother-in-law, Corky Ritter.

Per LaVerne's request, there will be no visitation before the Mass.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois, with the Rev. Oliver Nwachukwu officiating. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery.

Friends may make memorials to St. Charles Catholic Church or to the family, and will be accepted at the church.
