GORDONVILLE -- LaVerne McGuire, 68, of Gordonville died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. She was born Sept. 22, 1930, at Jackson, daughter of Maple T. and Eugie Snider Dalton. She and Roy "Bud" McGuire were married April 21, 1950...

GORDONVILLE -- LaVerne McGuire, 68, of Gordonville died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born Sept. 22, 1930, at Jackson, daughter of Maple T. and Eugie Snider Dalton. She and Roy "Bud" McGuire were married April 21, 1950.

McGuire had been an operator with Southwestern Bell and had worked at Dalton Florist, both in Jackson. She was a 1948 graduate of Jackson High School.

She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, charter member of VFW Auxiliary, all in Jackson, and a former 4-H leader in Gordonville.

Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Karen Hall of St. Louis, Barbara Burnette of Gordonville, Nancy McGuire of Jefferson City, Lisa Showmaker of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Karen Holy of Willowbrook, Ill., Marilyn Lambert of Sikeston; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Jim Corbin and Richard Northcutt officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.
