CHAFFEE, Mo. -- LaVerne Ruth Keller, 72, was granted her angel wings Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, at her home in Chaffee, where she returned after living in the Austin, Texas, area for 32 years. She spent her final days surrounded by family, friends and two beloved dogs, Toby and Tinkerbell.
She was born Jan. 7, 1946, in Chaffee to Byrl Theodore and Mary Louise Schmitt Greer and graduated from Chaffee High School in 1963, where she was a cheerleading captain. On July 24, 1965, LaVerne and her husband, Kenneth "Bud" Keller, were married at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
In 1983, LaVerne moved to Hutto, Texas, where she continued raising her three children and started her own cosmetology business.
As a result of her generous and affectionate spirit, LaVerne's beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children, family and friends.
Loving survivors include her husband of 52 years, Bud Keller; son, Ben Keller; daughter, Krystal (Chad) Beckley, and grandson, Mason; granddaughter, Ashlee Keller; and sisters, Rosemary Glenzy of Lexington, Kentucky, and Judy Greer of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Texas, Arkansas, Arizona, Hawaii, Idaho, Kentucky, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Washington and Oregon.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kyle Keller of Austin; a granddaughter, Koryn H. Keller of Austin; brothers, John, Nelson, Frank and Paul Greer; a sister, Hattie; and brother-in-law, Gary.
A service will be held in Texas.
