LaVerne Hartley

LaVerne E. Hartley, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born June 5, 1926, in Oran, Missouri, to Victor and Bertha Schott Heisserer. She and Clinton B. Hartley were married July 5, 1980, in Cape Girardeau. He passed away Feb. 1, 2004.

She was a beautician all her life. She worked at Florsheim Shoe Factory for 20 years, retiring in 1962.

She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, John J. (Mary Jane) Mayfield of Cape Girardeau and Ron E. Mayfield of Jackson; brother, T.S. Heisserer of St. Louis; grandchildren, John D. (Cara) Mayfield and Eric S. (Krista) Mayfield; and great-grandchildren, Jack C. Mayfield and Ava Parker Mayfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Emory J. Mayfield; second husband, Clinton B. Hartley; six brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral Mass was Saturday at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Francisco Gordillo officiating. Burial was at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
