LaVern Griffaw

LaVern Alta Griffaw, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, April 8, 2007, at Heartland Care and Rehab.

She was born May 2, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Ira and Nevada Gaines Fee. She and William "Bill" Griffaw were married in the summer of 1953 in Colorado Springs, Colo. He died Oct. 26, 1980.

She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral. She was a graduate of Central High School.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Singleton of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Tom Fitzgerald and wife Barbara, Jerry Fitzgerald and wife Pura, all of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Ronald Fee and wife Lee of Jefferson City, Mo.; a nephew, Gene Fee of Jefferson City; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a grandson.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
