Laura Weiss

Laura G. Weiss, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Aug. 6, 1917, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Theodore and Laura Exler Gerlach. She and Wilford Weiss were married Jan. 21, 1962, in Cape Girardeau. He died in 1980.

Laura was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. She was an administrative assistant with International Shoe Co. 37 years, 16 years in the Cape Girardeau office before moving to the St. Louis office.

She was a graduate of Central High School. She was a member of Lutheran Business Women and Lutheran Home Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include a niece, Carol Koeppel of Jackson; a nephew, Lee Exler of Cape Girardeau; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Exler and Helen Gerlach.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Douglas C. Breite officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
