CASSVILLE, Mo. -- Martha Laura Riehn, 79, of Cassville passed at her home Sunday, June 12, 2022. Daughter of Chester and Geraldine Smith Harmon, Laura was born July 25, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee. CASSVILLE, Mo. -- Martha Laura Riehn, 79, of Cassville passed at her home Sunday, June 12, 2022.

Daughter of Chester and Geraldine Smith Harmon, Laura was born July 25, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee.

Upon graduating from Cape Girardeau Central High School, Laura went on to receive accreditation as a registered nurse, embarking upon a career where she would care for many and make several lasting friendships. On June 25, 1960, she married the love of her life, James "Jim" Dayton Riehn, in Cape Girardeau; he preceded her in death.

Laura loved quilting, cooking and curling up with a good book. She enjoyed traveling, especially when the destination had a beach. Laura's dogs were always an important part of her life, but her grandchildren were her entire world. Laura was a precious woman who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include one son, James "Mike" (Shelly) Riehn of Cassville; two daughters, Susie (Daryl) Broddle of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Elizabeth (Derek) Hetland of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Nathaniel Riehn and Laney Riehn, both of Kansas City, Missouri; Katy Southerland of Youngsville, North Carolina; Zakary Broddle of Raleigh, North Carolina; Madison Ferguson, Macy Ferguson and Myla Hetland, all of Des Moines; and great-grandson, Cooper.

In addition to her parents and husband, Laura was preceded in death by one brother, Dan Harmon.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with Pastor Donny Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Haven of the Ozarks in Washburn, Missouri, and entrusted to the White Funeral Home, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.

Local arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory in Cassville.

Arrangements in Cape Girardeau are under the direction of Ford and Sons Funeral Home.
