JONESBORO, Ill. -- Laura Diane Buckley, 67, of Jonesboro died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at her home.
She was born Dec. 4, 1947, in Chicago, daughter of Leslie and Dorothey Strandberg Grubbe. She married Dorian Buckley on June 5, 1971.
Laura held many degrees. She obtained a bachelor of science in nursing from Northern Illinois University in 1969. Specializing in gynecology in 1989, she worked at SIU-C clinic as a nurse practitioner. She received a master of science degree in behavior analysis and therapy from Southern Illinois University in August 1991. In 1997 Laura obtained a master's degree in social work from SIU-C. She worked in several hospitals in the Chicago area before moving to Southern Illinois where she began her work as a student health nurse. She also worked in the continuing education department at SIU. Laura gave more than 25 years of service to the university. She enjoyed gardening, hiking and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Dorian; a brother, Leslie (Michael) Grubbe; and a niece, Beth (Brian) Frick.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Crain Funeral Home in Anna, Illinois.
Inurnment will be private at a later date.
