Laura Anna Voshage Birk, age 93, formerly of Jackson, Mo., passed away Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 10, 1911, in Kurreville, Mo., daughter of Albert and Bertha Grass Winkler. She married William Heider in 1930. He died in 1933. She then married Henry Voshage in 1937. He died in 1977. She and Martin Birk were married Sept.16, 1979, in Jackson. He passed away June 13, 1994.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit, and of the Ladies Aid.
She is survived by a niece and her husband, Clara and Leonard Ahrens of Jackson. Clara lived in the Voshage home from age 2 1/2.
She is also survived by five great-nieces; Karen Kern, Sharon Rosberg, Saundra Birk and Patsy Green, all of Jackson, and Carolyn Gerecke of Cape Girardeau; one nephew; two other nieces; four stepsons, Loyd, Orville, and Glen Birk, all of Jackson, Donald Birk of Elderado Springs, Mo.; and one stepdaughter, Alice Ahrens of Jackson; 11 stepgrandchildren, 22 stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and one stepgreat-grandson.
Friends may call today between 4 and 8 p.m. at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral service will be Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit, with Rev. Mark Boettcher officiating.
Interment will follow in Russell Heights.
