JONESBORO, Ill. -- Larry A. Wheaton, 60, of Jonesboro died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at his home.
He was born March 22, 1943, in Anna, Ill., son of Alfred "Medad" and Lydia Smith Wheat-on. He and Carol Ann Smith were married June 12, 1963, in Springfield, Ill. He later married Elizabeth Seward Nov. 24, 1980, at Wolf Lake, Ill.
Wheaton owned and operated WEDAC Construction many years. He also operated Windjammer Raceway near Jonesboro. He was a former Union County commissioner, emceed many local events, was a musician and member of Oasis of Grace Full Gospel Church.
He was a veteran.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jeff Wheaton of Petersburg, Ill., Jerry Wheaton of Virden, Ill., Richard Seward of Korea; two daughters, Teresa Coleman of Virden, Tammy Nichols of Thayer, Ill.; his mother of Jonesboro; three brothers, Greg Wheaton of Marion, Ill., Randy and Rudy Wheaton of Jonesboro; two sisters, Rhonda Bittle of Jonesboro, Sherry Pinnon of Lick Creek, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and an infant sister.
Friends may call at Hileman Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl Land officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.
