Larry Jerome Westrich, 61, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born April 15, 1962, in Cape Girardeau to Jerome F. and Ruth Evelyn Joyce Westrich. He and Stephanie Jackson were married Sept. 26, 1987, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau.
Larry was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Administration with a major in accounting from Southeast Missouri State University.
He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and Knights of Columbus Council No. 1111.
He was also a member of Missouri Real Estate Commission and past member of several city commissions and boards, including the city's Planning and Zoning Board.
Larry worked for the Drury family companies for 45 years. At age 16, he started at Ramada Inn as a dishwasher and cook and then served as a night auditor during college. After college, he was an internal auditor for Drury Hotels. Eventually, he moved to real estate development, construction and leasing as the senior vice president of real estate/development for Drury Southwest.
Larry was a devoted husband, father and Pawpaw and loved his family very much. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Kaci (Ross) Vohland of Columbia, Missouri, and Jessica Westrich of Indianapolis; two sons, Austin (Erika) Westrich of Cape Girardeau and Connor Westrich of Murray, Kentucky; grandchildren, Cooper and Tommy Westrich, and expecting Baby Vohland in September; and four sisters, Glenda (Ben) Bollinger of Cape Girardeau, Carolyn (retired Lt. Gen. Clyde) Vaughn of Winchester, Virginia, Clara (Pat) Scherer of Portageville, Missouri, and Vicki (Bob) Sledge of Centralia, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, William Franklin Westrich.
Recitation of the rosary will begin a visitation at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at St. Mary Cathedral School gymnasium and will continue until 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 31, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary Cathedral School, Catholic Social Ministries Food Pantry or Southeast Missouri Pets.
