Larry Steimle

WAPPAPELLO, Mo. -- Lawrence "Larry" "Maynard" Francis Steimle, 76, of Wappapello, son of the late Charles "Chas" and Clara L. Weissmueller Steimle, was born Aug. 10, 1945, in Cape Girardeau and passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, surrounded by his loving family in Wappapello.

Larry married Martha Niehaus on Oct. 28, 1988, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Originally from New Hamburg, Missouri, Larry also lived in Benton, Missouri, and then in Wappapello for the past several years. He was a member of VFW Post 3416 Auxiliary of Wappapello. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf and was a fast-pitch softball pitcher for 45 years. Larry was of the Catholic Faith.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Steimle; two daughters, Janelle (Tracy) Price of Benton and Michelle Winsor of Portageville, Missouri; son, Landon (Alice) Steimle of Oxford, Mississippi; two stepdaughters, Tracie (Joe) Patton of Land o' Lakes, Florida, and Pamela (Greg) Lee of Poplar Bluff; stepson, Jerry (Julie) Foriester of Campbell, Missouri; brother, Marvin (Bettye) Steimle of Pacific, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, Torie (Ben) Riley, Gavin Price, Alex Winsor, Evan Winsor, Andrew Steimle, Mary-Claire Steimle, Cade Foriester, Caris Foriester, Amy Patton, Cheyenne Patton and Eddie Eastham; great-granddaughter, Ellie Riley, and one great-granddaughter on the way, Heidi Riley. A host of family and friends also survive.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Charles "Chas" and Clara Steimle.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 today at Saint Denis Catholic Church in Benton, with a funeral Mass following at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Children's Hospital in St. Louis and/or VFW Post 3416 in Wappapello.
