MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Larry William Patrick, 71, of Marble Hill died Friday, July 31, 2009, at his home.

He was born Dec. 9, 1937, in Cape Girardeau to Leonard H. and Margaret Calhoun Patrick.

He and Margaret Ann Brockmire Patrick were married Saturday, Jan. 7, 1961, at Cape Girardeau. She died Nov. 5, 1995.

He was retired from the U.S. Navy as senior chief E8, serving in the SeaBees from January 1955 to June 1978. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served four full tours and received many awards: Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, four Good Conduct Ribbons with Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal/Silver Star, Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Rifle Medal, Expert Pistol Ribbon and Missouri Veteran Vietnam War Medallion.

Mr. Patrick has worked for West Park Mall. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Marble Hill and a lifetime member of VFW Post 3838 and DAV. He loved to hunt and fish.

Survivors include two sons, Larry D. (Sherry) Patrick of Marble Hill, Scott Jason Patrick of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Jolene Gale (Rick) Wagoner of Horseshoe Bend, Ind.; three surviving sisters, Sondra Kay (Robert) Foster of Perryville, Mo., and Polly (Jerry) Huckstep and Phyllis Huckstep, both of Jackson; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, wife and a sister, Brenda Sue Koehler.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Randy Poole officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau with full military honors by the Missouri Honors Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society, Crown Hospice or Seabee Museum Memorial Fund in Gulfport, Miss.
