Larry Clinton Huter, 68, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home. He was born May 28, 1949, in Cape Girardeau to Walter and Cora Bodenstein Huter. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit. He and Carolyn Mirly were married Aug. 11, 1968. They had been married 47 years when Carolyn passed away April 3, 2016...

Larry Clinton Huter, 68, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.

He was born May 28, 1949, in Cape Girardeau to Walter and Cora Bodenstein Huter. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit. He and Carolyn Mirly were married Aug. 11, 1968. They had been married 47 years when Carolyn passed away April 3, 2016.

Larry was a 1967 graduate of Jackson High School. He enjoyed keeping in touch with his classmates during their regularly scheduled Wednesday-morning coffee gatherings at McDonald's in Jackson.

Larry was a Spec 5, serving honorably for six years with the Missouri National Guard, Company A, 1140th Engineer Battalion, in Jackson.

Larry and Carolyn lived many years in Sparta, Illinois, where he worked 28 years at World Color Painting, until the plant closed in 1996. While living in Sparta, they were members of St. John's Lutheran Church.

The Huters returned to Jackson in 1996, and Larry worked 17 years for Mondi, retiring in 2014. They were active members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, and Larry was a member of the Men's Bible Group.

While his sons were growing up, Larry was active in Little League Baseball. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and vegetable and flower gardening.

Loving survivors include two sons, Jason (Amy) Huter of Milan, New Hampshire, and David (Olivia) Huter of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Aric, Hank, Cora and Charley; and a brother, Harold (the late Connie) Huter of Merced, California.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a sister, LaVonne Huter; and a sister-in-law, Connie Huter.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eric Longman officiating. Burial and military honors will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church General Fund.
