Larry George Holdman, 52, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, June 24, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born Nov. 1, 1947, in Leadwood, Mo., the son of Eugene J. and Gertrude G. Owens Holdman. He and Ruth Ellen James were married Dec. 26, 1970, in Desloge, Mo.
Holdman graduated from Leadwood High School and Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in alcohol and drug abuse counseling.
Holdman was a member of Maple United Methodist Church, where he held various offices and positions. He also belonged to the Capaha Antique Car Club.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1967-1969.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Brian E. Holdman of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Darrel Holdman of Findlay, Ohio, Jim Holdman and his wife, Janet, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Travis Holdman and his wife, Becky, of Markle, Ind.; three sisters and their husbands, Carolyn and Jim Martin of Columbia City, Ind., Beverly and Ron Mann of Kansas City, Mo., and Bonnie and Darrell Bradley of Frankclay, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Erma Holdman of Riverdale, Ga.; and an aunt, Sylvia "Sis" Johnson of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Holdman; and a sister-in-law, Eileen Holdman.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Gregory officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Marvin Chapel Cemetery in East Bonne Terre.
