Larry L. Bannister, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Jan. 24, 1934, in Cantwell, Mo., son of the late Roy Thomas and Hazel Hartle Bannister. He and Helen Rhodes were married July 4, 1953, at Doe Run, Mo.
Mr. Bannister moved to Cape Girardeau in 1959 and began a home construction business. He later developed Bannister City Mobile Home Park in Desloge, Mo., and Shadybrook Mobile Home Park in Cape Girardeau.
He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church, active in its Seekers Life Group, charter member of Cape West Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Bannister of Cape Girardeau; a son, Keith Bannister and wife Joni of Desloge; two daughters, Janice Roddy and husband Randy, of Cape Girardeau, Judy Patenaude and husband Paul, of Midlothian, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jason Roddy and wife Ami, Jill Roddy, Staci Kernan and husband Scott, Andrew Bannister, Kent Bannister, Scott Patenaude, Malia Patenaude, Anna Patenaude; and a great-granddaughter, Lily Rae Roddy.
He will be missed by the Shadybrook family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home today from 4 to 8 p.m.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lynwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Belcher officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
