Lora C. Lafoon, 85, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Cairo, Ill., died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 12, 1925, in Dongola, Ill., the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Claude Combs. She was married to Willis Lafoon, who also preceded her in death.
She was employed as a waitress at Harper's Restaurant in Cairo for more than 50 years and was very active in the Cairo Elks Club with her husband, Willis. She was also a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo.
Mrs. Lafoon is survived by two daughters, Claire Watson of Cape Girardeau and Vicki Brantley of Paducah, Ky.; three grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo.
The funeral Mass for Mrs. Lafoon will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo, with the Rev. John Agbasiere as celebrant. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
At the request of the family, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo or the Cairo Public Library in memory of Mrs. Lafoon.
