McCLURE, Ill. -- Robert Kyle Peeler, 66, of McClure, formerly of Cairo, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 3, 1948, in Cairo, son of the late Cletus Kyle and Vera Davault Peeler.
Kyle was in the Illinois National Guard/Army 19 years and was an E-8.
He owned and operated Dairy Queen restaurant on Broadway in Cape Girardeau 10 years. He was proud of his carpentry work over the years.
Survivors include his wife, Trudy Shumaker Peeler of McClure; a daughter, Kim (Mike) Pierce of Villa Ridge, Illinois; two sons, Christopher (Angela) Peeler of Perryville, Missouri, and Kevin Peeler of Jackson; a cousin, Raymond Davault; and six grandchildren, Joshua Luke Pierce, Caleb Daniel Pierce, Levi Michael Pierce, Easton Kyle Peeler, Ty Christopher Peeler and Alyson Elise Peeler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Gilbert and Ava Baker who raised him; three brothers; and a sister.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Sunday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge.
A graveside memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, with the Rev. Jerry Lindsey officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by Illinois National Guard Burial Team and area veterans.
