Kimberly J. Poole, 54, of Cape Girardeau, affectionately known as "Bird," died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at her home. She was born Aug. 14, 1958, at Cape Girardeau to Ernest Homer Poole and Judith M. Kimberly J. Poole, 54, of Cape Girardeau, affectionately known as "Bird," died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at her home.

She was born Aug. 14, 1958, at Cape Girardeau to Ernest Homer Poole and Judith M. Kothe. She graduated from Scott City High School and from Metro Business College. She and Roger Shavers were married Jan. 22, 1988. To this union two children were born: Travis W. Shavers Sr. and Toni Danielle Shavers.

Kim was born and raised in Cape Girardeau. She was employed at H & R Block for more than 20 years, and, after retiring, she opened her own business called "The Tax Lady" in 2004.

She leaves to cherish precious memories a son and daughter, Travis W. Shavers Sr. and Toni Dannielle Shavers, both of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Jaylene N. Shavers, Nakyia D. Shavers and Travis W. Shavers Jr.; her mother, Judith M. Kelly of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Roger W. Poole Sr. of Cape Girardeau and Terry Heuring of Farmington, Mo.; two nieces and nephews; cousins; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, 106 Farrar Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
